Since 2008, we have produced Transport Statements for new winepress and bottling facilities at several locations in West Sussex, with the most recent near West Chiltington.
Our most recent work involved production of a Transport Statement for a former dairy farm purchased by the Client that was being converted to grape cultivation with a new building for grape pressing during the two or three weeks of harvest. Grapes would be brought into the site from surrounding vineyards within West Sussex and Hampshire by tractor and trailer, with juice removed by tanker to be processed elsewhere.
The access arrangements therefore needed to be improved to allow the tankers and trailers to pass at the entrance without causing disruption to other road users, which resulted in widening to the existing lane outside the site.
We are now undertaking the S278 detailed design for the new access arrangements. We also provided inputs to ensure that the service yard was sufficiently sized to allow the tractors and tankers to manoeuvre. Parking provision was also reviewed with consideration given to modal split of staff.
