Travel Plans
Travel plans are long-term management strategies for sustainable travel for development proposals. A plan must consider the transport impacts of a given development and provide planning guidance on promoting sustainable travel. This includes active travel options such as walking and cycling.
A Travel Plan is a requirement of a development consent to demonstrate travel by means other than car, usually set against defined targets. The Plan usually forms a planning condition or obligation of a planning consent. Once the Travel Plan requirement is discharged, then the Travel Plan can be implemented.
We offer expert travel planning services and private consultancy to those involved in development. Our teams can provide guidance on a number of projects and their nuanced requirements, creating robust Travel Plans that encourage sustainable travel options.
From minor developments or those already accessible by car or bike, the Travel Plan requirement can be as straightforward as the provision of information for users. Or it may be a large-scale scheme where there is a requirement for new public transport services and extensive monitoring.
