Sean Wotherspoon
DirectorSean is a Chartered Highway Engineer, Member of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and Fellow of the Institute of Highway Engineers with over 20 years’ experience in design, project management and implementation of highway infrastructure projects.
He graduated from Dundee University in 1996 with a BEng (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering. After working in Singapore for 4 years as a Project Engineer, he returned to the UK and started a career in Local Authority Highway works with Runnymede Borough Council and subsequently Surrey County Council. He gained six years’ experience throughout a range of local authority projects, progressing them through feasibility, consultation, detailed design and construction.
Sean joined Mayer Brown as a Senior Engineer in 2007 and was promoted to Principal Engineer in 2009, Associate in 2013 and to Technical Director in 2016.
During his time at Mayer Brown Sean has successfully undertaken a construction stage role associated with over 12 Sainsbury’s projects, working closely with a number of different Principal Contractors and Highway Authorities. These schemes have included Stopping Up (major services diversion and protection works), roundabout improvements and new / upgraded traffic signal junctions on both the Local Authority and Highways Agency network.
Sean has also worked with a number of other Private Sector Clients to undertake a site role to deliver detailed design works. These projects have varied from streetscape improvements to industrial area access roads.
