David Rickard
Principal EngineerDavid is a Principal Engineer, Member of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, Member of the Institute of Highway Engineers, and a Member of the Institution of Engineering Technology.
He is also a qualified member of Mayer Brown’s independent Road Safety Audit Team regularly acting as Team Member on all stages of the Road Safety Audit process.
David has over 25 years’ experience in preliminary and detailed design projects ranging from small residential accesses to delivery of core infrastructure to major development sites.
Mayer Brown welcomed David as a Senior Technician in 1998. Promoted to Principal Technician in 2000 and Consultant in 2003. In 2004 David took on a new role with Mayer Brown’s London Cycle Network Team within the Design department. In 2005 David was promoted to Design Engineer and shortly afterwards was accepted as a Member of the CIHT attaining MCIHT status.
2014 saw David taking on the Design Engineer position within Mayer Brown’s Aldershot satellite office to deliver infrastructure highway schemes for one of Mayer Brown’s major client’s, Grainger Plc’s Wellesley Development. In 2016 David was promoted to Senior Design Engineer and in 2020 promoted to Principal Engineer continuing to deliver infrastructure highway design schemes covering feasibility, planning, detailed design, construction stage monitoring and S38/278/104 adoptions.
In August/September 2020, alongside his work/client commitments, David also completed and passed the TMS Road Safety Engineering Collision Investigation and Prevention course in association with RoSPA, endorsed by CIHT and CPD Approved by IHE. David continues to expand his knowledge and experience in Road Safety Audits alongside his Design Engineer role and the associated CPD requirements for professional memberships.
David has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of Highway Design. He has gained considerable experience working on a wide variety of small, medium, and large private and public sector projects, successfully guiding schemes from the pre-planning stage to detailed design including site supervision and S38/278/104 adoptions.
