Principal Transport Planner Rebecca Kingston led the transport and access strategy discussions at a highly successful public consultation event in Omagh, engaging directly with the local community to explain and discuss the transport elements of the proposed Sainsbury’s development.
The event took place at the former Homebase and House Proud site within Great Northern Retail Park and had a strong community turnout and high levels of constructive feedback. The consultation provided an important opportunity for residents, local representatives, and other stakeholders to learn more about the proposals and share their views on key aspects of the scheme.
A suite of applications have been submitted to convert the Homebase and House Proud units into a Sainsbury’s store providing circa 110 jobs and £12 million in investment. The applications seek permission to permit the sale of convenience and all comparison goods, and undertake minor external works. The development aims to deliver enhanced retail choice and economic benefit to the local area.
Matters of particular interest to attendees included highway access and parking, with Rebecca building confidence in the scheme’s proposals in terms of accessibility and network impact.
