What You'll Do:
We are looking to employ a Graduate Engineer as part of our Flood Risk and Drainage Team. The team’s main role is to produce Flood Risk Assessments, Sustainable Surface Water Drainage and foul water drainage strategies to support to developments and ensure the risk of flooding is not increasing. This can range from work to support a planning application all the way through to detailed design and construction.
As a Graduate Engineer at Mayer Brown, you will play a key role in shaping our projects and driving them forward. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing technical reports, including Flood Risk Assessments, Sustainable Drainage and Foul Drainage Technical Notes
- Undertaking Sustainable Drainage and Foul Drainage designs using AutoCAD software.
- Modelling drainage networks in Causeway Flow, our drainage software
- Liaising with stakeholders, external project team members and Clients
- Assisting with the preparation of fee proposals and tender bids
- Supporting the project manager with ad hoc and administration tasks such as ordering modelled flood information and reviewing guidance documents to help the project progression
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, design guidance and regulations
- Stay abreast of industry trends, innovations, and best practices in infrastructure engineering and construction
What We're Looking For:
- A 2:1 or higher degree in a relevant subject (Civil Engineering, Geography or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organisation and time management skills - Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams) or similar
- Have basic skills and/or a good understanding of AutoCAD and/or QGIS (or other industry specific software)
- Be motivated, enthusiastic and committed to developing a career in Flood Risk/Civil Engineering
- Full driving licence

Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 37.5hrs per week
Location: Woking, Surrey or Christchurch, Dorset – We are looking for someone who can reliably commute or plans to relocate before starting work
