Woking Cougars Receive Medals From Former England Goal Keeper David James

Woking Cougars U11 girls, who are sponsored by Mayer Brown, took part in the Bournemouth Classic football tournament. One of the UK’s largest tournaments which is held every year with an average of 90 teams entering.

The tournament is played at Bournemouth Sports Club with Sandford Caravan Park hosting the celebrity presentation evening, which also happened to be where Woking Cougars stayed for the bank holiday weekend.

As there were no other U11 girl’s teams, they had to play up a year in the U12’s.  As most of the other teams have been playing for a few years and Woking Cougars only having played for 1 year, they did very well.  On the first day they won 2 games out of 4 but unfortunately lost all 3 games on the second day, even in the pouring rain and cold temperatures on the second day they still tried their best.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed their long weekend away and especially enjoyed the presentation evening where they were all awarded a medal, presented by football celebrity David James, a former England goalkeeper.

Everyone is looking forward to next year’s tournament with great expectations!
